NOTICE: 11/16 inch Sling Product Recall Notice
Sterling Rope is recalling a very limited number of 11/16" nylon sewn slings in lengths 24", 30" and 48". The bar tack stitch of the affected slings were constructed using an incorrect thread, reducing the Minimum Breaking Strength to 18kN (4,046lbs) from our published MBS of 26.5kN (5,957lbs). These slings were constructed on October 7 and 8, 2010. A total of only 68 slings from the affected batches remain unidentified. Sterling has identified the six dealers to whom these slings were sent exclusively and has requested immediate removal of these slings from stock and that they contact the customers who may have purchased any. If you purchased an 11/16" sling in a length of 24", 30" or 48" before October 7, 2010 or after December 2, 2010, or if you purchased your sling during that period from a retailer other than those listed below, your sling is not affected.
We are posting this notice to notify end users who may have purchased the affected slings so that we can retrieve and replace all remaining slings.
The recalled product can be identified by the lot number on the hang tag attached to the sling. If you purchased an 11/16" sling in lengths of 24", 30" or 48" after October 7th, 2010 and before December 2, 2010 from one of the retailers listed below, but your lot number does not match one of the lots below, your sling is not affected. This recall is only for the sizes and lot numbers of slings listed below. If you have purchased one of these affected slings, please return it to the retailer from whom you purchased it. All returned slings will be replaced free of charge by the dealer or Sterling.
