Monique Forestier
From a background in elite gymnastics and acrobatics Monique quickly found her feet and discovered a new outlet to channel her energy. She admits that she has a good “head” for climbing and loves pushing it to the limit with not being scared of taking that screamer.
“I am passionate about my climbing. I love the journey that climbing can take you, both in the physical sense and the mental sense. Climbing transports me to another dimension, being in flow with your body, your mind and the rock is a truly extraordinary sensation, it’s pure, and it’s addictive and I want more.”
In her 14 years of climbing Monique has sent some hard routes in Oz and pushed the standards of Australian women’s climbing. She now has a two year old daughter Coco Rose, but still finds time to tick routes and enjoy herself on rock.
Climbing has taken Monique, and her husband Simon Carter (Photographer), on some grand adventures at home in Australia and to other countries. New Zealand, USA, China, Spain, France, Italy, Thailand, Borneo, Madagascar, Greece, Hong Kong and Vietnam just to name a few. One of her favorite areas that she has just returned from in the USA is Red River Gorge, where she enjoys the long Kentucky pumpers.
