How did you get started climbing?
I started climbing at a gym in Jacksonville, FL my senior year of high school. Some friends had tried climbing previously and drug me along one day. I was instantly hooked.
How old were you when you started?
17
Who or what inspired you to start climbing?
My friend Paul Falor took me for the first time. After that there was a crew of people I hung out with frequently at the gym in Jacksonville. After my first trip to the Red River Gorge I knew there was no way I could stay in Florida much longer.
Who served as your inspiration in life?
I’m really inspired by people who have found ways to balance it all; work, family and play.
What was your first outdoor climb?
My first outdoor climb was a 70ft 5.9 at the Pocket Wall in the Red River Gorge. I can’t remember it’s name, but I know it was amazing!
What do you do when you’re not climbing?
I’m a Kindergarten teacher, so that takes up my weekdays. I also love to watch football, ski, read books, swim laps at the Hot Springs pool, and hang out with friends.
Any training advice or suggestions?
Ha! This is a funny question for me since I totally refuse to do anything that could be considered “training”. For me, the more rest the better. I’m pretty much unwilling to do anything that I don’t find enjoyable with my spare time.
What do you feel is your best accomplishment, outside of climbing?
Outside of climbing I’d say my best accomplishment is wrangling 20 kindergartners on a daily basis.
What do you feel is your best accomplishment within climbing?
At the risk of sounding sappy, I’d say my best climbing accomplishment has been meeting amazing people and getting to travel to amazing places. I don’t know that I could have those things without climbing driving my life.
